British pop giants Madness were on the Yorkshire coast as part of their UK tour in celebration of their 13^th studio album Theatre Of The Absurd Presents C’est La Vie debuting at number 1 in the UK charts.

The iconic venue was transformed into Scarborough Open Air Theatre of The Absurd as Suggs and co performed hit after hit. Kicking off with One Step Beyond and Embarrassment, fans were treated to a real House of Fun with favourites on the night including My Girl, Wings of a Dove, Shut Up, Mr Apples, Baggy Trousers, Our House, and It Must Be Love before ending the night in that ever so Madness way with Night Boat to Cairo.

Addressing the packed crowd, Suggs said: “This is SKA-borough. It’s so lovely to see you all. Isn’t it great?”

Supporting Madness was pop rockers The Hoosiers.

The summer season continues at Scarborough OAT on 26^th July with indie giants James as headlining shows run through to the end of August with Korn, Becky Hill and Busted, along with a night of open air comedy from Bill Bailey.

Due to phenomenal demand British pop giants Madness will now play TWO headline shows Live At The Piece Hall 2023.

Such has been the rush for tickets in the pre-sale for the Nutty Boys’ Halifax date on Friday June 16, they will now play an additional show on Saturday June 17.

Tickets for June 17 go on sale to The Piece Hall members at midday today (THURS) with all tickets on general sale from 9am tomorrow via  ticketmaster.co.uk

British pop giants Madness have joined the line-up for Live At The Piece Hall 2023.

The Nutty Boys bring their legendary live show to the historic Halifax venue on Friday June 16.

So, get ready Yorkshire – Madness will be doing what they do best by uniting people for a right raucous live bash with a set teeming with hits from their unrivalled back catalogue.

Madness – Chris Foreman (guitar), Mike Barson (keyboards), Lee Thompson (saxophone), Graham “Suggs” McPherson (vocals), Daniel Woodgate (drums) and Mark Bedford (bass) – have played to millions of fans over the last four decades.

Formed in Camden, they have chalked up 15 UK Top 10 singles – including the timeless Our House, It Must Be Love, One Step Beyond, My Girl, Wings Of A Dove and Baggy Trousers – together with 10 Top 10 albums.

Their 11^th studio album – 2016’s critically acclaimed Can’t Touch Us Now, featuring the hit single Mr Apples, instantly went Top 5 on its release.

Madness famously performed on the top of Buckingham Palace and set the record for the biggest ever audience for the BBC’s Live New Year’s Eve broadcast – the most watched TV music event of 2018.

Last year saw the release of a three-part original docu-series ‘Before We Was We: Madness by Madness’, how six unlikely lads – a rag tag of self-proclaimed ‘hoolies and urchins’ – became one of the most successful British Pop bands of all time, chronicling the band members individual stories up to the start of their meteoric rise in 1979.

While the band are currently beavering away on the follow up to Can’t Touch Us Now, this year did see the long overdue collaboration between Suggs and Paul Weller with the release of Ooh Do U Fink U Are? – a gloriously sunny, optimistic and defiant Motown and ‘60’s R&B influenced stomper.

Madness join music legend Sting, Grammy Award winners The War On Drugs and chart-topping indie folk band The Lumineers among the first headliners announced for Live At The Piece Hall 2023.
